Let me be emphatically clear. I am not in the business of putting braces on any child who doesn’t need braces. My office is not a braces store. I’m in the business of helping kids and families get the right orthodontic treatment if any is needed, get the right braces if any are needed, and have as perfect a smile and as few oral health problems as possible. I make sure my patients are informed—that’s why I wrote this book. In my office, you’re never told what to do. You’re provided with real information, no medical jargon, plain English, “reasons why,” and options. You probably know the term “God complex,” referring to a person who acts like he’s God—imperious, brusque, and deliberately intimidating to squash questions. You will not get that kind of treatment here, from me or anyone on my team.
Kids do need braces, but not all kids and certainly not the same braces for all. Some kids are better served by other orthodontic treatments instead of or before braces. We will collaborate, you and I, to figure out what is or isn’t needed and what options are best if there is a need for your child.
